Lan( Local Area Network)

This is one of the most popular type of network which is used at everywhere to connect the
set of devices with each other .This type of network is basically used at small offices and buildings to provide the connectivity between devices and the purpose of sharing the resources with each other.

In this type of network the speed is also higher to carry the data over the network.
It can support up to 10gbps

MAN(Metropolitan Area Network)
---------------------------------------------
This is also one of the popular network types , This network model and reference is used for to
provide the connectivity in between one geographical location and sometimes called as in one metropolitan area.For example: Let's I got  a head office at Odisha and I have some branch offices  in different different district , I want to connect all my branch  offices over the LAN to Head office and to share the resources among the branches . In this kind kind of network you can consider as MAN.

WAN(Wide Area Network)

This network covers the large geographical location such as multiple city's and multiple country
 to communicate with  different different branches and  To provide the connectivity and to share the resources with other  .you need to implement the  Wide Area Network  in your company . using this network model  we can connect the wide range of location together and also you can share your resources with each other over the network .For simplification , This network is used to connect the multiple LANs across the area they covered.

2-What Is Networking .

A Network is collection of  devices and connected with each other to allowing the data to be shared with each other , Any other device capable of connecting to a network is considered as a networking device .

I am listing some common usable networking device below.

1-Computers (exp-Desktop,Laptop,Mainframe or Server)

3-Router

4-Switch

5-Repeater

6-Webcam  etc.

SWITCH:--It's  a very well know device in the networking industry you can see it in each and every where  to build the network  . It uses the hardware address to process and forward the frames 

over the network from source to destination.

ROUTER:-Router is a device to used  to communicate with one network to another . It's a layer 3 

device and it's forward the packet over the network based on the IP address from source to destination.

HUB:--This device was very popular once upon a time ,  But now a days  it's no more used in the network .Because there was having some disadvantages  which was making very trouble to
network due to broadcast.

REPEATER:- It was one of  the  very popular device on earlier days Because this was helping to transmit the signal from one end to another, For example:- if you will talk about the  coaxial cable there was some  specific measure of distance .If you want to extent that distance then you need 

use the repeater the in between the devices .
